its not made by a well known manufacturer and that will lower the price.. and it looks like the software on the phone is not as good as other touch screen phones.. looks like a very good phone for that price tho ..

Google android plus 3G surfing plus wifi. Touch screen attractive design and has a pin ball on it.

I love my blackberry pearl, however i like the G1 because of the touch screen and the larger screen. I mainly use my phone for internet and texting. So thats why i like the bigger screen on the G1. But im not sure if i could go away from blackberry..what are your opinions on this? How is the G1? how does it compare to the blackberry pearl?

is it like the voyagers? witch is horrible!
or is it like the iphone. heat activated and works great?

It has a captive touch screen (iphone) but iphone doesn’t sense heat. Instead it has a electric field and if you break that field it registers a touch, so it is like the iphone’s, or better. Some reviews say its better than the iphones.
Only thing is the g1 doesnt have multitouch, but can be added in the future as the hardware is raedy for it but apples patents dont let it.

I’m thinking of getting a g1 mainly because I like a touch screen but like to have real buttons too… My only concern is having to flip the screen up while I’m walking and just wondered if it’s also possible to text etc with an on screen keypad? Also any general good/bad opinions on the phone in general would be apprecaited! Cheers!

the pros of the g1 : Nice full touchscreen finger sensitive and responsive
5 row qwerty keyboard and a track ball so use touch screen keyboard or trackball which ever you choose … the power of android and the android market behind them… the "always on the go" internet can be very useful also good price plans …
and much much more …

the cons : no flash on camera no video recorder (unless you install the cupcake update) this is free by the way ,,, the bulk ,, "sexiness" its not as sexy as a phone like the iphone …
no auto rotate or multitouch and finally Battery life

taking all into account the g1 is a great phone
i get mine today (: can’t wait
